Industry Spotlight, by Faryn Maya Seiden
Our founder and CEO was invited to contribute to a collective conversation on responding to the current cultural climate as a business owner. While there is no "one size fits all" solution, we saw several themes emerge around topics such as sensitivity, timing and authenticity.
My best advice for small business owners is to not retreat. Although we need to be mindful and strategic to what we say and don’t say during these unprecedented times. The truth is, your audience still needs your product and service. Maybe the message changes slightly (maybe it doesn’t). Continue to innovate for your business, your clients, your employees, and the community you serve. – Margaret Brown, CEO + Founder of SocializeLA.com

We are all facing a host of new and unique challenges, both personal and professionally, as we adjust to the “new normal” of life at home. From a digital marketing perspective, businesses can actually think of this time as an opportunity to connect with customers in new and meaningful ways.
Today, winning brands are focused on providing comfort & utility during this time of fear & uncertainty.
If necessity is the mother of invention, then we should see a wide range of innovation and customer-centric solutions coming out from this unprecedented time. We have been cut off from the majority of our everyday rituals and conveniences on a massive scale, as every sector of public and private life has been disrupted by this global health crisis. Through it all, people are more connected than ever through technology and social media.
So where do small businesses go from here?
Some guidance from our perspective:...

You don’t have to be a huge corporate organization to have successful digital marketing. I talk about this A LOT in my webinars and my workshops with business owners, I find myself often giving a lot of the same advice. So, I’ve grouped it together for you with 3 major tips that are essential to your campaign. Let’s take a look.
Commit to your choices of channels
I’m talking about Facebook, Instagram, Website, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Press Releases, Blogs, etc - know your audience, commit to a time commitment! It is very easy to remain inside your comfort zone and only post on the platforms that you are familiar with. Let’s take a step outside of the comfort zone and use the tools that reach your target audience.. Your audience and engagement will grow organically with consistent valuable content. You may also find that one particular channel seems to work better for your business while another does not seem to be getting any attention. Not...
Let digital marketing be the storybook for your business. Your outlet to get in touch, connect, and grow with your audience. Your chance to stand out from the crowd, to inspire, to explore. Yeah, let's do this! Our team is sharing key steps to creating a unique digital story for your business, take a look:
Step One: Your “Business Casual”
Your logo and brand are the face of your business. Whether we like it or not, businesses (and their digital stories) are often judged by their cover. Your logo should be eye-catching and speak to your target audience. Don't be afraid to retouch your logo if it's looking dated, but be careful not to lose your image in the process! Pay close attention to your profile pictures across social platforms and make sure they are in harmony. Your profile pictures, cover photos, and website headers should be inviting and easy to identify. Don't have a logo yet? We'd love to help you get started :)
Step Two: Your “Singing...
It’s 2019! Can you believe it? Don’t you hate when people say that? It’s kind of repetitive because most people say it every year. Which is why I've waited to post this message. [Strategy]
The truth is I can’t believe it’s a new year. Every year seems to fly by faster and faster.
We make those big goals. We have those big plans. We go to crowded gym classes and buy piles of self help books. We vow to spend less time on our emails and to have more of a social life. Everyone goes in with the same mindset: This is going to be THE YEAR.
That enthusiasm and positive energy only tend to last for a few weeks (maybe months) before falling back into even older habits and then the enthusiasm cycle starts up again around December 29th of the next year.
While I don’t have the key to making all of the positive changes you want to make stick, I can tell you exactly what you can do to make sure that 2019 is the year you finally shine...
Happy end of the year. We're excited for 2019! Much to look forward to!
